What is your position on screen time for kids?

My mum literally put a lock on my sister's ipad because she feels she doesn't need it for a long period of time (to play games and watch her fav shows) . But as someone who went through that phase and understood how much i always wanted to be on my phone and watch really nice tv shows everyone was talking about. I think children do need screen time but the shows and online interactions should be monitored to ensure its age appropriate for them
