Is it just me or are all search experiences on consumer apps just terrible?

Feel like the searches never actually show me what I want to find and instead just show me a bunch of random stuff I never asked for

These kinds of search problems are actually quite hard and most devs just YOLO it. I worked on Gmail & Drive search for a few years and no matter what measurable improvements we delivered, everyone remained dissatisfied. I gave a talk that covered some of this a while back.
