Question for ethereum experts: Is mainnet a safer store of value than L2s? Or is safety on both primarily a factor of my ability to safeguard my seed phrase? In other words, if I transact primarily on L2s, is there a reason why I might still prefer to store most of my eth on mainnet?

Yes, L1 is still most secure. All L2s have additional attack surface area, and none of them are fully permissionless ("stage 2") at this point either. https://medium.com/l2beat/introducing-stages-a-framework-to-evaluate-rollups-maturity-d290bb22befe

Thx for answering. That was my intuition but wanted to verify it against actual logic. π

I should clarify I personally am still very comfortable leaving the bulk of my funds on L2s (especially Base).

Understood π«‘ π I am more a pragmatist than a purist too; itβs rly helpful to understand high level where major risks are but Iβm not trying to live in a 0 risk state- would be too painful of an existence
