After Tolkien wrote Lord of the Rings, (which had some pretty bad guys ie Sauron) he talked about how the real villain he wanted to cast light on was *Industrialisation. There’s many instances where the good guys are fighting the natural world being polluted that people really see it now as a warning for the future.

Fulgrim, from wh40k. He was perfect, he tried to be even more. By betrayal of his brother he got demonic sword who slowly corrupted him and he killed his other brother in the end and went into chaos. My favorite villain is the joker. Not only does he have no remorse for killing those who help him, but because of the abuse he endured as an early age he feels like need to abuse the rest of the world. His so intelligent with how he strategically sets up Batman for failure
