I was told the Trump admin would be effectively the same for Palestinians as a Dem admin. Unsurprisingly, it’s taken less than a week to see that is definitively false and just as dumb of a thought as it sounded before the election https://www.axios.com/2025/01/25/trump-israel-bomb-shipment-hold-gaza

I think releasing the weapons is more a negotiating tactic than anything else. It’s a no win situation because of the thousands of years of history. Hopefully they can end the blood shed , relocate ppl as needed and rebuild Gaza

negotiating tactic with whom and for what? the thousands of years of history is what makes "relocate ppl" a non-starter. if it was that simple, it would have been done a long time ago. point remains - Trump evidently just wants to end the conflict by any means possible, which means resuming sending massive artillery to Israel, which is ostensibly worse for Gazans and other Palestinians

There is no solution that makes everyone happy. It’s always lose lose.

Yes, negotiation requires compromise from both sides -- in a conflict of this magnitude that means neither side is going to get everything they want. Still, my point is that people who said Trump would not be worse for Gazans than a Democratic administration were kidding themselves

I think he’ll stop the active war. There is no compromise in this region, everyone feels they are right and when religions build on top of sacred sites over thousands of years you get this problem.

if there is no compromise then there is no stopping the war. we've already seen compromise in the ceasefire agreement which Trump had no part in. his version of "stopping the active war" is completely one sided, which again goes back to my main point that Trump is clearly worse for Palestinians than the previous administration and people who claimed otherwise should work on their critical reasoning abilities

I don’t think Trump wil be worse. He’ll stop the active fighting, cut off funding of Hamas which will show them down and stop them from hiding behind innocents

How will he do any of those things? The active fighting has already been stopped by the Biden admin with the current ceasefire agreement, but that won’t hold forever. What will Trump do to stop the active fighting? What will he do to cutoff funding of Hamas? How will he stop them from using human shields? If there were actions to be taken that could accomplish those things they would have been done already
