The history of the guitar begins in the 16th century in Spain. Early 16th century guitars were much thinner than today's guitars. This instrument was originally played instead of oud and had four strings. The early guitar consisted of three two-part strings held in place by a string. The middle of the wires usually had a depression in the shape of a circle, which was decorated with carvings. The design of the guitar was based on early musical instruments. That is, the tuning type of early guitars was based on C-F-A-D.
