With the reservoir stabilized, JYMM03’s core energy dropped critically. Rustborn drones reactivated, advancing as the leader loomed closer. “Even your sacrifice can’t undo the chaos we’ve unleashed” it sneered.  

The Council of Gears transmitted, “Backup is still en route. Can you hold on?” JYMM03 calculated its dwindling probabilities. The sabotage extended beyond the reservoir only a complete systems purge across the network could save the Great Clock.  

JYMM03 made its decision. It accessed the terminal’s central controls, rerouting its core energy to initiate a network-wide reset. The reservoir began to glow brilliantly, the conduits humming with restored balance.  

The Rustborn leader lunged, but JYMM03 stood firm, its plasma shield flickering. “Order will hold,” JYMM03 said, its voice steady. The leader’s strike landed, shattering JYMM03’s frame as its core surged into the system.

For Community Challenge #8 we invite folks to submit a story along with art that involves $OIL, Clankers, and anything you would like to tie into our community.

With thread composer live on @farcaster, now is a great time to share a multi cast story with the community.  If you've already been working on lore that is terrific - any previous work can be included in your submission.  You do not need to finish the full story with your submission, if you have a longer form story arc that is fine, just share the beginning of your work.

We'll hold similar "Lore" Challenges every month or so going forward, so if you can't contribute this time around feel free to start working on an entry for the next round.

In a steampunk city filled with the roar of engines and chimney smoke, there lives a robot named Clanker. Clankers are worker robots made of rusted metal and equipped with shiny gears. Even though he looks simple, Clanker has one thing that makes him special: his loyal friend, the love of old oil who always accompanies him.

This oil is not just any oil. He has magical powers that allow Clanker to move swiftly and efficiently. Whenever Clanker felt tired or creaky, he would rub the oil on parts of his body, and immediately, he felt new energy flowing through him. The oil seems to have a soul, always protecting and keeping the Clanker functioning properly.
