Because you don’t need that to know Elon is a fucking nazi” Hasan reminds us of the many explicitly nazi and pro-fascist things Elon has done before his overt salute. Context is key. There is no defense here. If the answer to both is no and there are no negative concequences to those actions and display besides people bashing on him I think it only spreads due to algorithms and people wanting to gain views on that type of content

I disagree. And I’d rather not find out. When people display constant fascist tendencies, uplifting authoritarian regimes, using demagoguery to strike fear into the masses in ways that cause physical harm and racist policy-making that has decades long ripple-on effects, we shouldn’t uplift them. We have plenty of evidence from history that this is the shape power+capital always takes. Always. There is no upside to “waiting and seeing how it goes” and absolutely catastrophic potential. And, with all due respect, because we’ve had many good conversations, defending nazi salutes as just some kind of free expression, is unnecessary, and cringe. I hope you will reconsider your defense of this. If not, I’ll leave it at that.
