I’m opposed to tariffs and trade restrictions. But remember Trump is playing a very foolish game, and I don’t think he realizes how much harder it is likely to hit America. Especially the American manufacturing and military industries he claims to want to build up. Both of those rely heavily on Canadian goods. That said, Starlink should not be a part of any government’s budget. This is literally a service run by a foreign adversary.

Do you think each nation should deploy their own copy of starlink satellites to the space? It is foreign yes but works for all humans equally, same as a blockchain

It is not even remotely like blockchain. It’s literally run by a single company with a megalomaniac leader. He moves satellites into and out of position, disables and enables service for whomever, sets arbitrary prices, and can abandon it at any time. There are few things in history as centralized as a potential Starlink global internet.

There are decentralized internet projects btw. Helium is one example but there have been many smaller p2p networks over the years. I really recommend people in this space start educating themselves on decentralization because most seem to not be able to recognize even the most obviously centralized systems.

what I wanted to highlight is the fact that you can’t disable it blockchain can be decentralized and that thing is literally in the space and you cannot do anything to it as well

But that’s wrong. You can easily disable Starlink. Again it’s headquarter in one place and run by one small team. Internal sabotage, foreign interference, a natural disaster could all cause the satellite internet to be turned off. That’s to say nothing of targeting the satellites themselves. And they’re low earth orbit too. So don’t they just fall back to earth periodically and the whole plan for sustainability is constant launches to replenish? The reason it’s hard to shut down the blockchain is because it’s a bunch of peer to peer nodes. Satellites are like this. But imagine if all the nodes were run by one person, BNB style, then it becomes quite easy to shut off all the nodes, and consequently the blockchain. Decentralized control is THE thing that makes blockchain resilient.
