Could be a good route, I’ve said for a while micro staking in everyday apps will become a thing (like marketplaces) 

Wonder if there’s still some way to do it without it though based on some kind of algorithm and webs of signed messages and who those messages come from

This is absolutely going to get gamed because the cost of clicks is zero

Maybe add an economic disincentive - like "stake to vote that I'm real"

Use the rewards/returns from staked funds to build out the infra and tooling to make the WoT more robust

Good idea and the beginnings of something. Would need to go deeper as simply allowing click to vote by any account would be lacking reputations to validate the voters. Pulling in other credentials to score the weight of votes would be nice to see.
