Oh that definitely seems weirdly high, I'm seeing 0.63 gwei on my end. Do you have https://mainnet.base.org as the RPC node set for Base in MM?

yes, I meant the expected amount for gas + 5000000000000 that is being sent. I thought had found 2 ways to reproduce this but it seems none of those 2 would apply to your case so it might be something else. If you don't mind could you share the dapp you're encountered this on so we try to reproduce it on our end?

Another follow up question: does the MM account that you're testing with has enough funds to afford the amount being sent + gas?

What rpc provider are you currently using? Could you change it to https://mainnet.base.org and let us know if the issue is still happening?

It‘s likely that you’re on version 7.17 we have seen some users face this crashing issue and we’re actively working to ship a fix for it as soon as possible on version 7.18
