a few months ago, i wound up at a dinner with a bunch of serial entrepreneurs with successful exits (honestly idk how i was there) when asked what they're optimizing for in life, they all said "having fun with great people, building something we're proud of" and i still think about it every day

Were any of them actually successful in doing that? Or was it more of an aspirational statement they all hoped to find after realizing it was missing in their successful venture?
