Some takeaways from last night's State of the Union (sadly not recorded because we couldn't get FarHouse to work but we had fun testing the Spaces mini app by @moe!) The narrative "come to Farcaster to make money" is terrible and incentivizes the wrong behavior. If your reason to come here is money, you are going to be disappointed and probably won't do well. If you come to hang out with builders and innovators, you will come across opportunities not found elsewhere and you may make a few dollars here and there. I think the better narrative around money would be aimed at content creators. If you are already making great content, come to Farcaster and use the legos and rails here to take control of your audience and money making opportunities without platforms taking huge cuts of your revenue. The idea that hanging out on Farcaster full time is equivalent to a full time job income is just not true. It may one day be for the top 1% of users, the same as any other web2 platform.

This really resonates, I’m not traditionally technical but being in this community even for a few weeks has been so eye opening! Financial freedom is enticing but being able to get a few dollars to better understand the ecosystem and what it COULD do is even more valuable

Yes. I think the learning opportunities alone are worth it, especially for anyone who is serious about web3.
