I feel like old Chicago has a style that is uniquely American. I hope we will have a revival of this sort of Louis Sullivan style.

I agree and I am glad so many buildings in the downtown loop preserve the Chicago style(s). I often wonder what it would cost to create a Sullivan-esque building today, with all of the incredible terracotta and intricate metal detail work.

I think that cost was initially the reason it fell out of vogue. However, emerging building technologies are making the custom one of a kind the same cost as the mass produced. we are approaching a wonderful revolution when these costs are the same.

There are a bunch of firms and projects check out MX3D Bridge - Amsterdam It was 3D-printed from stainless steel with a omni-axis robotic arm. this particular project was built off site and then placed here but the idea is that you could bring the arm to the site and it can print its own track to run on and the bridge
