This BBC article about a deepfake porn scandal in South Korea is heavily focused on the fact that the images were disseminated on Telegram. The story is interesting and troubling in itself but I find the framing to be even more eyebrow raising in light of recent events with Pavel Durov. Their problem has always been with the platforms they have bo control over. It'll keep happening as more decentralized and strictly encrypted platforms emerge. Governments worldwide are afraid of anything they can't control.
