First, i think you should decide the design niche that interests you; website design, logo design, etc. The familiarize yourself with design tools to ascertain the one/s that you'd be more comfortable with. Finally, YouTube is your best friend, don't sleep on it. The resources on there are too many to not get you to the level you want to get to in design. Good luck.
