Having a custodian is a dark pattern. They always get a final say as to what I can or can’t do. Base seems great in a lot of ways but it relies on custodian at the end of the day. When I can’t get root control, if I want it, then it’s just more of the same to me

To be fair I read this as buil on base originally as I wasn’t paying close enough attention but I basically feel the same though I’m assuming I can still exit the chain with my base based items? If not then double down on my above answer.

I stopped looking at their docs with their wallet release, I can definitely update my opinion though, and I appreciate you telling me where I may be wrong 🙏🏼. I can’t use anything on optimism though regardless since my stack requires USDC on eth or polygon to have a direct off-ramp through our card product

What is so exciting about optimism functionally or is it just that base is there? I assume the DX is quality with base things, is that correct? (Also jealous if so)

I think the excitement is that OP stack is open source and Base seems to be pushing for a decentralized L2 by building on top of it, so it can take advantage of the user base + liquidity of Coinbase without sacrificing integrity.

Btw I’m still looking into this as well so I’m definitely no expert to speak on behalf of the team at Base. I’ve also been skeptical especially after this bear market being rug pull central, but I believe the team has good intentions. Would love to hear opinions on both sides though, so appreciate your openness.
