They may have fun, but the competition in AI is way higher. Crypto is starved of good products, and you can always integrate AI into crypto. 

I do, however, agree that AI feels reminiscent of early app development in terms of its allure.

I started learning how to code to become a web3 developer. Now I'm thinking I may pivot to AI when the time comes to choose a path. Much more room to grow and it's the trend now. It's all done in python too.

I really don’t agree with the two sides of same coin but do agree with outsized software impact

ai and crypto are two sides of the same coin in some ways i think and certainly the main paths people are taking to find outsized impact in software recently

devs are whimsical little babies though (myself included). i wouldn't pay that much mind to it...

bear markets always shake out those who lack conviction

in a year when costs to run ai are way too insane and there's a global pushback against it they'll be crypto crowdfunding just like the rest of us schmucks
