Thor's Helmet is a Wolf-Rayet bubble—a type of nebula formed by the intense stellar winds from a Wolf-Rayet star at its center, known as WR7. Wolf-Rayet stars are massive, hot, and short-lived stars in a pre-supernova stage. The winds from this star move outward at supersonic speeds, interacting with the surrounding interstellar material, which compresses and heats the gas, making it glow.
A Wolf-Rayet star is a massive, hot star in a pre-supernova phase, ejecting powerful stellar winds at speeds of up to **2,000 km/s**, with a luminosity hundreds of thousands to millions of times that of the Sun.
