One of my favorite things about Japan is cherry blossoms, but did you know you can see them twice a year? Fuyuzakura (winter sakura) are varieties that also bloom in the fall/winter and are a special treat because they are rare. It makes it even better when you stumble across one! Taken in Hakone, December 2024.

It was magical the first time I saw one planted next to a Japanese maple. The red and pink contrast was stunning and beautiful.
