After occasionally dabbling on and off with spaced-repetition for years, I've finally decided to give it a serious trial and coughed up the $25 for the Anki iPhone app (it's open source and the web and desktop versions are free). The impetus was pivoting our thinking about an SoP thing we're doing with zupass from a TCG UX metaphor to an SRS metaphor.

Anki is a very well-done but old-fashioned architecture. It relies on a centralized sync server, by default ankiweb.net, but you can run your own. Kinda like git and github I guess. It also has solid local-first and backup biases. But this is begging for reinvention in a Web3 idiom. Use a zupass style zk-proof app (or zupass itself, with some rudimentary deck-review affordances) as basic client, publish public decks to ipfs, and register on blockchain for discoverability. Store decks locally as zk pcds, and you can give a card to anyone p2p via a QR code.

This is a big product opportunity for the right productivity nerd.

interesting. what is the role of zk here? to prove to someone else that the cards were reviewed?

i see. hide the identity of the deck publisher but deck should be publicly available and possibly there should some signal that this deck is better than others because some number of accounts use it regularly
