Apparently (I looked it up) it stems from Judaism, given that Sabbath is on Saturday for them (and despite it being on Sunday for Xians). I guess it’s like the BC/AD aspect of the Gregorian calendar in that both are driven by ancient religions. Here in Asia most people would consider Monday to be the first week day.

Starting the workweek on Sunday is the biggest life hack of them all. Makes you feel like you live in the future and you’re always mentally ahead — UTC+n is also a big plus.
