30y on I think the most iconic 90s show is X-files Not Seinfeld, Simpsons, or anything else. The show captured the pre-internet information environment with uncanny precision.

I also remember seeing a chart once (cannot locate it now) that showed the reduction in the literal size of paranormal claims over the centuries, as science increasingly filled the gap. Like how people claimed to part the waters two millennia ago, and by the 20th century telekinesis claims were on the order of barely nudging a pin on a table
