I was going to say no on the basis that monkeypox is transmitted via close contact (https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/mpox/if-sick/transmission.html), much more so than COVID-19. But then I found that the R0 is surprisingly high (2.4–3.1) and up to 14% of carriers are asymptomatic, so now I don’t know Sources for the R0 range estimates: - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36319946/ - https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2588933822000267
