Homicides are hard to sweep under the rug. 13 so far this year, half as many compared with last year. Trend is visible in other cities too, Boston is just the safest now

That smells like how data is reported, and not an actual improvement. But I'll try to remain optimistic 

The rate is falling across American cities but remains higher than in Boston apparently, so it looks like a combination of nation-wide trend plus a Boston-specific change in their approach to policing.
