So is Trump favorable to crypto now that he senses an opportunity to garner votes from the onchain crowd? And if so, how genuine is he given his previous position on the matter?

Trump is a populist so he will say anything he thinks gives him most votes.

That’s the conclusion that seems obvious to me as well, and yet I see plenty of people on X marveling at Trump’s newfound support for crypto, completely ignoring his previous stance

It's not support for Trump, it is anti -support for Team Warren who is out there killing crypto as an agenda.
