A year ago, my dad lost his job and we found out he has vascular dementia. This week, we are looking for memory care centers for him to move into. This shit moved so fast. It’s actually frightening. From working in 2024 to completely unable to care for himself a year later.

It’s cruelest twist of fate when a loved one is already gone mentally but is still present physically, because it won’t allow you to grieve properly and get closure. My thoughts are with you 💕

Yeah it’s scary man. It’s really opened my eyes to the idea of allowing people to go out on their own terms. It is legal in a few states now but under very stringent regs that prevent people with dementia from doing so. (Probably rightly so, but I wish there was some kind of procedure in place to put in your will that it you’re not capable of xyz cognitive test, then I’d like to end it)
