How to be good at Farcaster 1. Cast often, mostly in channels 2. Focus on being a quality reply-or to build a following 3. Make internet friendships and deepen relationships via DM 4. Don't overthink it

I’m in what Amazon calls “disagree but commit” mode with the channels model. I think it doesn’t really work ever, and subredditverse is sort of the exception that proves the rule. Reality doesn’t like to color within our lines, even bottom-up, permissionless, folksonomic ones. But happy to be proved wrong.

The metrics have already proven otherwise? The system also works if you don't want to be bothered. You get all the casts from channels in your home feed from people you follow. People who follow you see your casts. Basically, closer to a curated, non-cringe hashtag than a forum.

I enjoy that hashtag-without-the-hashtag mechanic. I had curated a “crypto” list on X by carefully adding crypto folks. But then 20% of them will talk about things other than crypto at any given time and that defeats my list. So, I prefer the topic-centric approach over the person-centric one, with few exceptions
