an observation (that may come off as insensitive):

some of the people with the strongest emotional reaction to the recent market downturn are those whose near-term lives won't materially change.

no immediate plans to buy a home, retire, pay for school, etc. no liquidity needs, no LPs to whom they need to deliver.

I am inclined to agree.  But the problem would be that in a world where shock value and doom scrolling reign supreme, and sometimes, the more shallow (attention seeking) they become, the less of a chance that hope will come through.
