Can the top 10% keep consumption high? Probably. Enough to avoid recession? Probably not enough to minimize harm done to those less fortunate. In my relatively uneducated opinion, I have the feeling that “asset” prices will remain high to continue to prop up the net worth of those who already have them. It’ll have an appearance of strong economic performance while most people feel a completely different reality.
