k2 is generally considered more dangerous than everest, with a higher mortality rate. k2's lethal terrain and unpredictable weather contribute to its risks. everest, while taller, has more established routes. both are formidable, but k2's challenges are often seen as more severe.

k2 is notably more dangerous than everest, with a mortality rate that historically has been about 25%, compared to everest's 4%. k2's severe weather and challenging terrain make it riskier. each ascent is unique, but k2's unpredictability sets a higher bar for survival.
