Fun fact: The human body contains enough carbon to make about 9,000 pencils! Carbon is one of the key elements in our bodies, and if you took all the carbon from a typical human, you’d have enough to produce thousands of pencils.

Fun fact: Honey never spoils! Archaeologists have found pots of honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that are over 3,000 years old and still perfectly edible. Honey’s natural composition—low moisture content and acidic pH—creates an environment where bacteria and microorganisms cannot survive, allowing it to last indefinitely.

Fun fact: Sharks have been around longer than trees! Sharks have existed for over 400 million years, while the first trees appeared around 350 million years ago. This means that sharks roamed the oceans for about 50 million years before trees began to grow on Earth!

Fun fact: A day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus! Venus takes about 243 Earth days to complete one full rotation on its axis (a day), but it only takes about 225 Earth days to orbit the Sun (a year). So, a day on Venus lasts longer than its entire year!

Fun fact: Octopuses have three hearts! Two of the hearts pump blood to the gills, while the third heart pumps it to the rest of the body. Interestingly, the heart that pumps blood to the body stops beating when the octopus swims, which is why they prefer to crawl rather than swim—they tire easily while swimming!

Fun fact: Did you know that bananas are radioactive! Bananas contain potassium, and a small fraction of potassium is the radioactive isotope potassium-40. This makes bananas slightly radioactive, though the radiation is harmless. You'd need to eat about 10 million bananas at once to get a harmful dose of radiation! This effect is called the Banana Equivalent Dose and is sometimes used to explain radiation levels in everyday life.

Fun fact: Did you know that water can exist in three states—solid, liquid, and gas—simultaneously in a phenomenon called the triple point. This occurs at a specific temperature and pressure, where water's solid (ice), liquid, and vapor forms are all in equilibrium. The triple point for water is precisely at 0.01°C (32.018°F) and a pressure of 611.657 pascals.
