Here's my story:
It was ~10 years ago. I had partnered with a longtime friend who was starting a company, and our offering was used by independent schools. I was having lunch with a Head of School, and he was telling me about how they help kids with dyslexia and how it has transformed lives. I mumbled something about wishing I had access to that as a child and started crying as I remembered how horrible my experience was. I couldn't read. It seemed like every class, except for math and gym, would go around the room and make us read a paragraph out loud. I would try to figure out which paragraph would be mine. Would the teacher go down the row of desks and back up the next row? Start at the beginning of each row? Or randomly call on us? 🤷‍♂️ I would count the paragraphs to try to practice read in my head. Needless to say, I didn't learn anything in those classes because I was afraid of looking dumb. The head of school was very kind and told me this is a common reaction from people with dyslexia
