Falling fertility rates despite leaders' wishes show an upper bound on just how authoritarian modern authoritarian regimes are. Lots of terrible things in NK but it's clear that it's not at the level where KJU can just order people to get pregnant.

That said, I do worry that the population decline issue is going to push lots of regimes to try various heavy-handed approaches to be even more interventionist on culture. I expect lots of failures in these attempts.
