Holy shit. Apparently, it’s the United States of Isra-hell now—where those protesting against genocide and war crimes and speaking up for Palestinian rights are being unlawfully detained and deported, even if they are lawful permanent residents. 

I read that a federal judge blocked the deportation of Mahmoud Khalil, but this sets an insanely dangerous precedent. I wonder when they’ll start arresting people for speaking out against Russian war crimes 😤 

I stand in solidarity with Mahmoud Khalil.

One edge the USA and Europe still had over China was the illusion of freedom of expression (yes I think even the illusion of it is better than not having any of it).

The ability to protest was important, even if the institutions were set up in a way that these anti-establishment opinions would never surface in the media, and power would never "trickle down" to the majority through corporate-paid elections.

As with everything else under Trump, mask is fully coming off on freedom of expression now.

If the social media details about the "arrest" are true, the Trump administration is trying to deport a legal US resident. This person exercised his right to free speech by criticizing US foreign policy. Idk any evidence of a crime made public. Protests are growing, and the court has stopped the deportation...
