what are the best design patterns to use in place of popups and intrusive " " guides " "that interrupt the user? i can't believe i live in a world where we jump scare our users in ways that TOTALLY INCAPACITATE OUR OWN PRODUCTS AND CUSTOMERS. crazy pills 💊

Outside of better UI (maybe it’s good to consider removing things instead of adding things). I do find that product tours (Intercom is king, Chameleon and appcues also have good products for certain cases) work pretty well if users opt into it. Otherwise it is pretty intrusive but it’s more in line with guiding the user through the product instead of popups.
