While establishing a U.S. Crypto Strategic Reserve might legitimize crypto assets, doesn’t government ownership fundamentally undermine the decentralized ethos that drew us to crypto in the first place? 

Curious to hear how the community sees this potential paradox.

I think 'Decentralization' ethos has become a big tent that now includes the most libertine, anti-government individuals (from both sides) to those who just like it for censorship and security reasons. For the former, I think in many ways this is a betrayal of their ethos (though they are probably not as opposed because it pumps their bags). For the latter group, so long as they don't acquire a supply large enough to disrupt the decentralized nature of the ecosystem (which isn't going to happen for the reasons @cassie laid out), there's no ethos conflict imo.
