It’s due to incentives and relative power of the stakeholders involved. Also, it’s about pre-requisites & building blocks. The more pre-reqs needed the harder. Eg if a good political system requires a strong independent judicial system then you run into chicken-egg problems.

Google incentivized creating marginal zero cost content to acq traffic (monetized by publishers w/ ads). Initially it led to great content but soon devolved to cat & mouse game w/ spammers. Designing new incentive models for data sharing w/ chatGPT etc is an opportunity to reset this.

Not obvious that would be the best strategy. The likely path is to keep improving mobile (largest media consumption in the younger generations) and then get into headsets (AR/VR) and try to be the best at that.

Just in the past 10yrs being a Creators has gone from a hobby -> profession. The individual Creators grew the fastest as UGC became pro, amplified by formats & distribution commanding a very large % of viewer time. Whats most exciting is that... this is just the beginning.
