The answers above sound right on imo - some states actually have laws on this, never hurts to check that too..

I agree.  A few weeks back I left my 16 and 17 yr old daughters at home by themselves for 3 days. My mom was a bit freaked but they did great.

Probably in the 5 to 7 range for the shorter items, scaling up to “weekend getaway.” There is a toxic culture of helicopter parenting right now though, so don’t expect a lot of support on what were previously “no brainers” for parents.

7-10 grocery run, 10-12 night out, 15+ weekend away (depending on how safe your neighbourhood is) would be my take.
