nook

Decided today that we’re not going to be working on /nook anymore. It was originally meant for us to play around with and learn new tech and has served that purpose. 

We don’t really see a path forward in continuing to build the client, so we’re going to explore some non-Farcaster ideas instead. More soon!

I find myself relying on Nook more and more. Less content meant simple feeds, but with more, platforms need to denoise and recommend the content ("for you" on Twitter) or divert it (channels on FC). Nook takes it a step further, allowing users to create custom "shelves" to reorganize the information within channels.

/nook has always been one of my favorite third-party client as it allows users to customize their feed, making it a great complement to Warpcast. 

Its discontinuation highlights the difficulties of competing with Warpcast, as many others have already failed.

There's a possibility of that happening. Curated shelves require dynamic updates to remain effective in the long run. 

Therefore, I've always believed that incorporating appropriate recommendation algorithms is the best solution for providing better feeds and governing bots and spam.
