I think rev growth (maybe after re-scaling for signup cost change) is as good a proxy as any for network growth. Arguably, better than top-line number of casts, replies, messages, etc. And it suggests that the network appears cooked. Are you seeing any green shoots data to suggest otherwise?
Another critique I have is that after taking many shots on goal, those shots are taken. We most likely won't get another Degen new activity pop, or a 10x better Moxie, or another superfriends X cross-posting growth hack. Subsequent efforts will be lesser and worse. We may get something entirely new, but that space is now by definition smaller. Failure is not costless, and the lessons prune the branches of possible outcomes. Channels may be next.
In fact, I'm back because the new channels approach feels like a last chance to make them work. I love the idea of channels as containers for permissions. And hope my ability to hack together a decentralized encoding/decoding mechanism makes them more fun, more likely to stick. 1 reply

re growth: i'd agree if we were talking about a regular, closed platform. fc is a prime example of an ecosystem that captures the "slowly then suddenly" mantra. of course it requires a certain amount of (naive?) faith, because it's very hard to prove we're on the right track. data won't help here, and may even work against you.
re shots: i like to mentally travel back to before times, and i can't speak for you, but i couldn't foresee any of those shots happening. we're still in the early days and pieces are just starting to come together. what's more important though, and i see this faulty reasoning too often, is that many of these shots weren't a blessing for the platform (https://warpcast.com/ds8/0xc1c0145e). farcaster grew thanks to them, and survived in spite of them.
to sum it up, i don't have a proof in my hands, but also think those arguments are moot *when talking about a living and developing system*. 0 reply
