Going to sound a bit controversial but this whole $POINTS thing is one of my least favorite aspects of web3.

Random lottery speculation leading to lots of engagement but no actual value behind it (we don’t even know what points are for).

Build value for consumers, not gambling for the masses.

Why not both? Why must there be a conflict between “actual value” and fucking around?

I see the conflict in attention and time spent, so if all you do is degen then I agree.

Some amount is healthy and unavoidable. When we say "for the culture" it's not totally flippant. Stuff like this is bonding. It's interesting, even if it's not to everyone's taste and, ultimately, good for the community. But it can't be allowed to run amok, else it drives everyone else away. Small taste, sometimes.
