We were an entirely k8s shop at BisonTrails well before I joined, less than 11 people. Scaled up until acquisition by @coinbase. Still using that stack. But must have a reason for the added complexity. In Recall.ai's case it makes sense.

if you have billions of independent processes that need virtual abstraction, it makes sense. most crud apps are frontend, backend, db, replica db, s bunch of workers. we’re talking 100k nodes/ validators/ clusters. you need infra as code. so scaling bots fits that use case.
