The biggest problem with a decentralized social media platform is that data ownership is not a huge benefit. Trust is not accomplished on social media because it’s too noisy, so you ultimately have to go off platform anyway. And we already have that in web2 with email, podcasts, SMS, and private communities.

There’s no trust without discovery … and yes trust is found in social media, because we’re not that discerning in who we trust You need social media for discovery and some early trust Owning your graph is a hedge for the effort you put into (1) and (2)

Agreed. My point is that web2 social media already provides discovery. (Not to mention discovery doesn’t always have to happen on social media, but that’s another matter) My main point is the big differentiator with DeSo is data ownership but there’s not much upside to it.
