great talk from @dwr.eth on the early stages of building a protocol, even though it's from a year ago, it's packed with timeless gems on onboarding early users and fostering a strong community. 
I wish warpcast supported threads to dive deeper into it, but here are my top takeaways, especially in relation to Apple’s App Store being the most successful protocol:

1. what developers really want from a protocol is users
2. the first builders on the protocol are its earliest users who often don’t even need documentation to start solving their own pain points
