#football Several Saudi Arabian clubs are keeping a close eye on Casemiro's situation at Manchester United. The 32-year-old midfielder has seen little playing time since Ruben Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag as United manager in November. He started Monday's win over Newcastle but has played just 27 minutes in his previous five Premier League games. Brazilian online outlet UOL reported that Casemiro agreed to leave United in January and that Public Investment Fund, which owns four Saudi clubs - Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, Al Nasr and Al Hilal - is interested in buying the midfielder. Now journalist Ben Jacobs has shared more information regarding Casemiro's future and the interest in him in the Saudi League. The problem with most Saudi clubs, he says, is that they have used up their quotas for foreign players and would have to part with someone they already have to sign a new one.

#football Danny Murphy has accused Ruben Amorim of committing "football suicide" against Newcastle by selecting the wrong starting XI. The Magpies won 2-0 at Old Trafford but they dominated Amorim's side for the first 30 minutes and could have scored more. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were decimated by Newcastle's midfield, and the choice of the pair to control the midfield surprised many before the game even started. Amorim appeared to realise their mistake and made a substitution in the 33rd minute, bringing on Kobby Meina. It was another setback for the new United boss, who had defiantly insisted he would not abandon his favoured 3-4-3 formation, but Murphy urged him to be more flexible or his side would continue to lose. “I was at Old Trafford and saw the problem in the opening minutes. By the time the Manchester United boss reacted, his team were 2-0 down and the game was over,” Murphy wrote in the Daily Mail.

#football For the first time in 35 years, Manchester United finished the calendar year below the 7th line in the English Championship table. The team is in 14th place, in 1989 it was 15th. The team led by Ruben Amorim lost to Newcastle in the 19th round of the Premier League. Thus, Manchester United finished 2024 in 14th place in the table with 22 points in 19 games. This is the first time in 35 years that the club finished the calendar year below the 7th line in the English Championship table. The last time this happened was in the 1989/90 season, when Manchester United were in 15th place. Following the tournament, the team led by Alex Ferguson took 13th place, but qualified for the Cup Winners' Cup due to winning the FA Cup. Manchester United are seven points away from the relegation zone. Amorim have four defeats in a row - and Liverpool and Arsenal are ahead.

In total, United have suffered five defeats in December in the English championship - the team has not lost so many in one month for 62 years (since September 1962).
