Impressions from Miami #1 - Tips I went out yesterday to an average restaurant. When it was time to pay the bill (via iPad), the tip options seemed off: 3%, 6%, 9%. I clicked on 9% but paused for a moment. Why were these options so low? I was expecting the standard 10/15/20% maybe even 25% It turns out an 18% tip was already included by default, so this was a second round of tipping. Wtf? I almost ended up tipping 27%!

Man, tipping in the US is a difficult game. In France at least they indicate a 12% service charge is included and no additional tipping is expected. They are genuinely thankful when you tip.
