Thanks for everyone’s optimism! I can report that 4 sadly perished 🪦 (dried out to the point of no return) but some like this monstera are now on life support and showing healthy signs of growth!

Seeking tips for keeping plants alive while you’re away 🙏 how does everyone do it?

I think the Monstera will be fine.

Deffo keep them out of strong sun while you're away. Before we go on trips a week or more, we'll give them a sit bath in water to fully saturate the pots. 

You can also put them into a larger tray (like 10-20 smol plants in a big tray), and ask someone to water the entire tray every few days so there's a few cm of water at the bottom.

Drip bottles work well too, as does the "water wick" (google it--but more annoying to setup).

Yeah! You'll come to learn what works best for your home, your plants/pots, and your setup. Obviously the smaller the pot, the higher the danger, so we tend to group all the smol guys into a deep tray and ask our frens who come feed Shadow, to top up the tray every few days as needed.

Drip systems work great but they're a faff to setup... look at ceramic bottle tips, you stick a bottle of water upside down into the soil with these tips and they'll very slowly release into the soil.

Yeah, I've think I've learnt a good lesson out of this! Was scared that they wouldn't get enough sun, but the heat in Taipei during the summer is way too much haha. 

Great tip for fully saturating them though! And will definitely look into getting a tray (or tub) to soak them in too. I was thinking of setting up a water wick, but did seem like a lot of hassle hahah. I guess that's the price to pay if I want my plants to stay alive!
