First contact—melting bronze at home. Struggling with getting enough heat into the piece, but it kinda works. I think I need to go hotter with the flame generally, bigger on the flame, direct the flame down into the piece, and hold it a bit further back. I’m realizing that this may be a particularly tricky joint to heat because of all the surface contact between the pieces, but hoping I can save it with another pass. Seemed like how things attached to the table played a pretty big role in heat distribution

It looks like you came up to temperature and then didn't keep it hot enough. You can finesse the bronze a little and get it to melt into place by heating precisely, flicking the torch on and off the work as needed. So fun.
