‘direct cast’ is the new thing. navigate to a user’s profile and tap the envelope icon in top right. if you both follow each other you can send e2e encrypted messages, or DCs, as they have come to be known

so weird. i see the icon on everyone else’s profile except yours. maybe try adding your telegram username in settings? cc @dwr.eth
